Believe it or not, there is another small fire burning in Boulder Canyon today, about two miles from us. It started on Friday, and is now about 70 percent contained. My friend David could see the flames from his porch on Friday. Pretty intense.
Today, Sunday, helicopters are going chop-chop-chop over our heads, and some people up in Boulder Canyon still have no power or phone service due to the evacuation Friday.
To take our minds off of this, Princess Nellie decided that it was time to forget about being a Fire Dog and just enjoy Halloween.
She got this great costume for Halloween, so she decided to go Trick or Treating!
She went and knocked on a neighbor’s door here in Chautauqua…
And she was home!
Nellie decided that Love is the Best Treat of All.
…even when it messes up your crown!
Right?
Happy Howl-O-Ween from Nellie and Andi!
If only humans had as much capacity to remain adorable throughout our lives, know what we want and how to get it with as much ease.
So true, Marian!
Nellie’s got class–and obviously pedigree!!
Thanks Laurel,
Nellie is actually a rescue from the streets of Mexico. She was rescued by a group called Saving Animals Across Borders, in conjunction with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.
A volunteer drove seven hours from Texas to get Nellie ready for her flight to the US, and then Continental Airlines flew her from Mexico to Houston and then Denver for free (!), then volunteers from the Boulder shelter drove down to Denver to pick her up and bring her to Boulder. A story fit for a princess, indeed.
She’s probably a Cocker Spaniel/Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix. I call her a “Purebred Mexican Spaniel.” She is certainly 100% cute!
Thanks for reading and commenting,
Andi and Princess Nellie (who is curled up on the sofa, recovering from her Halloween Adventure.)
Princess Nellie has such noblesse oblige! She looks as comfortable in her costume as if those are her regular clothes! I love this post and love Nellie!
Hi Gail, Nellie loves you back! She sends you a Royal Wave (wrist/wrist, elbow/elbow, and Never Above the Tiara.)
Loved seeing Nellie all dolled up! She looks regal indeed! And, I call her a designer breed. So glad she showed up here in your blog. I’ve been curious!
Hi Tamara,
Glad you got to see Nellie in her duds. She is a designer dog after all – I love that!
Andi
Nellie looks like she had so much fun! Happy Halloween!
She did! She actually went trick-or-treating all over the Park – to the office, neighbors, etc. She had lots of treats and then slept the entire next day. Just like a kid after too much sugar. Pretty cute.
how in the heck did i miss this post. what a cutie pie. that last photo is a gem.
Hi Dana,
If you take a moment and subscribe, you’ll never miss a post again! It will come right to your in-box. Cheers, Andi
OMG. Thank you for the blast of cuteness on a snowy day. Nellie you are the sweetest!
